General Festival Accessibility

We aim to make the Festival enjoyable for everyone and provide as much information as possible to help you plan your visit.

If you have additional accessibility questions, please email us at festival@britishscienceassociation.org.

Event accessibility

As of the latest update of this page, the majority of our events are wheelchair accessible, except for a small number of venues. Please refer to each venue description below for an overview of its accessibility features.

When travelling around Liverpool, we recommend using CityMapper. It is available as an app and webpage and provides reliable travel instructions and real-time updates.

Accessible travel

Blue Badge holders can park for free in most Liverpool City Council car parks and on-street pay and display bays. For details on these locations, please visit the City of Liverpool’s Blue Badge On-Street Parking Map and Car Parks.

Please note the following exceptions:

  • Paddington Village, Victoria Street, and Royal Albert Dock Car Parks – standard parking charges apply.
  • Mount Pleasant Multi-Storey Car Park – free parking is only available for Blue Badge holders in designated disabled bays on Level 5.
  • Q-Park Car Parks – there are 180 Blue Badge parking spaces available across parking sites on Queen Square, Hanover Street, John Lewis and Liverpool ONE. Standard parking charges apply. Please visit their website for locations.

There are also a number of disabled parking bays available for Blue Badge holders on the University of Liverpool campus. Please refer to the University’s accessible parking map and webpage for details.

Liverpool John Moores University has limited disabled parking available. We recommend using nearby City Council car parks or on-street pay and display bays. For more information, contact LJMU at parking@ljmu.ac.uk or email us at festival@britishscienceassociation.org.

If you have any further questions on blue badge parking, please email us at festival@britishscienceassociation.org.

Bus Travel

All public buses in Liverpool are wheelchair accessible, featuring low floors, ramps, and designated spaces for wheelchair users, along with priority seating. Many services also offer audio and visual next-stop announcements.

Residents of Liverpool and Merseyside with a qualifying disability may be eligible for free local bus travel through the Merseytravel National Travel Pass. If you are unable to use standard bus services, Merseytravel also offers Merseylink, a free dial-a-ride service for eligible residents.

For full details on accessible bus services, passes, or to check eligibility, please visit the Merseytravel accessibility pages.
