Duality: Listen to light
This performance runs from 19.30 – 22.00
Witness the transformation of cutting-edge research into sound in this exploration of the nature of light.
Duality is a quantum musical experience that blends orchestral performance with data demonstrations, visualisations and sound experiments. Uncover the quantum phenomenon of how light and matter interact, whilst immersing yourself in a beautiful audiovisual soundscape. Join Elinor Twyeffort from the School of Physics and Astronomy (University of Southampton) and John Traill from the University of Oxford on a journey through the breakthroughs in our understanding of light throughout the centuries, inspired by the music of the time. Alongside this performance, you'll be able to explore the science of light, photonics, and quantum technologies through interactive demonstrations in the foyer. This event will be delivered by the University of Southampton in partnership with the School of Physics and Astronomy, CORNERSTONE C-PiC, Light Up Trails, and Turner Sims.
