Electromagnetic art
Run time: 13.30 – 14.30
You might have heard of the electromagnetic field, but have you ever heard of 'Electromagnetic Art'?
Electromagnetism is a fundamental force of nature, responsible for most things we experience on a daily basis: electricity, magnets, and even light. For over 150 years we’ve understood the science, but what does it mean to create 'Electromagnetic Art'?
In this electrifying talk, Tom Hyatt, artist, scientist and maker (Liverpool John Moores University) will recount his journey to answer this very question. Art and science collide as he recounts his research journey to create a new portrait, made using electromagnetism, of the pioneering scientist who first described it.
