The Ordnance Survey vernacular map of Southampton

Run time:

Ordnance Survey maps Great Britain in remarkable detail, with over 600 million features in their National Geographic Database. Alongside this, they are capturing something more human- the names people actually use to describe the places they call home.
People often describe places in their own way, using nicknames, shortcuts or local knowledge. In an emergency, those names can be vital. They help responders understand exactly where someone means, so they can find the right place more quickly.
Help us build a living vernacular map of Southampton. Add your local names, nicknames and shortcuts, from well-known landmarks to hidden spots. Your contributions will help Ordnance Survey better understand how people describe and navigate the city.
